Save Darfur Coalition is the largest activist organization in America dedicated to preventing and ending genocide and mass atrocities worldwide. While working at Rock Creek Strategic Marketing I developed the following materials to help spread the word about the conflict in Darfur, Sudan. This consisted of an Annual Report, handbills, promotional T-shirts, and stickers. All materials kept a consistent look keeping with Save Darfur's overall brand.
Know Your Farmer. Know Your Food.
Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food (KYF2) is a USDA-wide effort to carry out President Obama's commitment to strengthening local and regional food systems. The main goal of the website was to connect people to their local farmers. While working at Rock Creek Strategic Marketing I created an earthy, organic look and feel for the brand/logo and website. I also brought in elements of texture and earthy colors that gave KYF2 website a more approachable/friendly feel.
Sitar Art Center
The Sitar Arts Center provides multidisciplinary arts education to the children and lower income youth of Washington, DC in a nurturing, creative community where young people discover their inherent talents and gifts. While I was a volunteer teacher for the center I was asked to design their 10 Year Anniversary book. The book showcases the children's talents, along with the celebration of having a community center for 10 years. I gave the overall design a very painterly look and feel with a combination of playful illustrations and photography. The Sitar Center liked it so much they used it as an inspirational theme for their website.
McLean School of Maryland
While working for Rock Creek Strategic Marketing I was tasked to create the branding and logo for the McLean School of Maryland, Auction 2011. The theme was the Carnevale di Venezia (Carnival of Venice). This Italian festival is famed for it's elaborate masks. The event is fun and playful and I wanted the typography and illustration to reflect that in the layout. The materials consisted of a logo, an invitation, and program.
Urban Forest Project
The Urban Forest Project is a series of outdoor exhibitions taking root in cities around the world. The goal of this project was to create an idea or form of the tree to make a powerful visual statement on banners throughout Washington, DC. Copywriter Natalya Minkovsky and I collaborated on a hybrid of a non-partisan political message and green initiative theme. Inspired by the Declaration of Independence, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Leaves” combines the governmental nature of our nation’s capital with efforts to make DC a greener, leafier city.
Fruit and veggie alphabet is a personal project inspired by having kids and wanting them to learn more about healthy food. The goal of this ongoing project is to design and illustrate letters that resemble vegetables or fruits, making it a fun way for children to learn more about food that's good for them.
Boys and Girls Club
The Boys and Girls Club was founded by a community of members who felt there was a need for neighborhood youth to have a positive place to grow, learn and have fun. While working at Crosby Marketing Communications we were tasked to highlight a new location for a center. Original design and illustrations were rendered to show youth and playfulness.
Bear Creek Resort
Bear Creek Resort is minutes away from world class snowboarding, skiing, zip line tours, fine dining and is walking distance from world famous Big Bear Lake. While working at Rock Creek Strategic Marketing our task was to rejuvenate their brand. The target group were people that needed a place for a special event and young families that needed a vacation away. We updated the brand using bold lively colors, a playful font and fun filled action photos, overall giving the brand a more personable, organic feel.
